Samsung topped Android phone sales in US last quarter
With 32.1% of the market share, Samsung has topped Q3 2010 as the top Android smartphone provider, in terms of sales, in the US market. This report was released by Gartner, a third party research firm.
Samsung owes its success to Galaxy S premium smartphones which has more than 3 million shipments and is available with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular and Cellular South.
The Galaxy S will be upgraded to the Android 2.2 (Froyo) in the coming future. Dale Sohn, the President of Samsung Mobile has said, “The Galaxy S portfolio has played a significant role in Samsung’s success in 2010 and we are extremely excited to show you what products, services and innovations we have in store for the U.S. market in 2011.”
