Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab; Available in European market this Sep

Samsung has officially unveiled its much anticipated Android tablet – Galaxy Tab today at IFA trade show.

As also known earlier, Galaxy Tab comes with a 7 inch display and Android 2.2 as the operating system.  “Samsung recognizes the tremendous growth potential in this newly created market and we believe that the Samsung Galaxy Tab brings a unique and open proposition to market,” said mobile communications unit head JK Shin.

Samsung’s tablet will be available in Europe in mid-September, and in other markets including South Korea, the US and elsewhere in Asia in the coming months.

There is no word on the pricing right now but reports in the trade press said that the Galaxy Tab will be more expensive, at 799 euros (1,025 dollars) in Germany and 699 euros in France.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is an Android tablet with a 7-inch, 1024×600-pixel touchscreen. It’s running Android 2.2 Froyo, has Wi-Fi, HSDPA, Bluetooth 3.0 and DLNA networking.

It has front and rear cameras for video calling, with a 3MP job and LED flash on the back.  The Tab has a Cortex A8 1GHz processor. It will of course have access to the Android Market, but also comes with Samsung’s Social Hub and Media Hub software on board for managing contacts and media.
