One Million Google TV shipments expected by 2010 end, Digitimes

The Google TV Set Top Box from Logitech “Revue” has started shipping to various North American retailers like Best Buy, which will soon be selling this to end consumers. According to Digitimes, the Taiwan based component makers are saying that Logitech should be able to ship 500,000 units of STB before 2010 end.

With the addition of Sony’s TV and STB combination orders, Google TV-based system’s overall shipments are expected to surpass one million units by the end of this year.

Digitimes also reported that Google has outsourced its Google TV’s production to Gigabyte and Gigabyte has already received the Revue STB orders for one year.

The Logitech Revue companion box will incorporate Logitech’s Harmony remote control technology, and will include a controller that combines keyboard and remote control capabilities. The Revue runs on the Intel Atom processor CE4100 system-on-a-chip. Logitech also has plans to introduce an HDTV camera and video chat for Google TV, along with additional choices for navigation and control, including apps to turn a smart phone into an advanced controller for Google TV and home-entertainment systems.
