LG launches Android powered Andro-1 ‘LG-KH5200’ in Korea
LG has released its first Android powered smart phone in South Korea. The Andro-1, featuring a QWERTY keypad, enables users to easily search the Web, email and other Google services, while giving access to its application store “Android Market”, LG said in a press release. The Andro-1 is the local version of the GW620, which released last year in European markets. It runs the older Android 1.5.
The new model is the third smart phone in the South Korean market that operates on the Android system, LG said, following Motorola’s release of Motoroi & Samsung SHW-M100S in February. LG said it still has no plan to release the model in the United States. It will be available through the country’s second-largest mobile operator, KT Corp., for 600,000 won (US$529) before subsidies and taxes.
