Orange to offer sub €150 prepay Android phone
Orange on Tuesday said it plans to offer an Android-powered smartphone to prepaid users priced below €150 in time for Christmas.
The operator did not disclose which device maker is likely to produce the handset, but said it is part of a wider strategy to drive the mass-market uptake of mobile data services.
“The fact that anyone can get the Android OS for free makes the possibility of a low-cost prepay smartphone a reality,” said Yves Maitre, senior vice president of mobile multimedia and devices, Orange.
