China to get its own Android Market
Sohu, a Chinese Internet portal today reported that Google may be planning to release a Chinese language version of its “Android Market” for Android applications in mainland China as early as Jan 1, 2010.
“As far as I know, Android Market will work with the Chinese version of the Android devices in the country” one Android developer told Sohu.
As always, Google China refused to comment on the issue. Domestic companies such as eoe Mobile have already released third party Android application stores aimed at domestic users.
The source added that Google has yet to solve the problem of a payment method for the Chinese Android Market, as so far it only supports Google Checkout and credit card payments, the report said.
