Google today announced via a blog post that it has finalized the $12.5 billion buy-out of Motorola Mobility. Company also stated that CEO Sanjay Jha will be replaced by Googler Dennis Woodside.

A long standing hurdle in Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility is finally gone, as China approved the deal. However authorities did put a condition before Google that Android should remain open to all for the next five years; which shouldn’t be a problem if Google has planned to remain fair to other hardware partners.

If you own a Motorola device, chances are you either love or hate the OEM’s “Blur” overlay. As an AOSP purist at heart, I would absolutely fall into the latter group, provided I owned a Moto phone or Tablet (HTC and Asus all the way here, baby). Google Play Store updates to 3.4.7 to fix Motorola support Issues
Google Play Store and the whole Google Play branding is not only a big change to the way we use our devices, but also a huge move for Google and Android as a whole. Many of you may have thought you deleted your market some how, absolutely hate the new name or icon, or can’t believe Google just dropped an update with out warning. Your situation could be worse. A whole slew of Motorola device owners were just as irritated as you were, with the exception that they couldn’t even use the new Play Store. Apparently there was an incompatibility issue between the update and certain versions of the MotoBlur UI. Most notably, users couldn’t install anything and kept getting broken links. What a drag.

We have already heard about Intel’s partnership with Lenovo, and Motorola to manufacturer smartphones based on its Medfield processors. But, now BGR India is reporting that company is turning towards local manufacturers like Lava to put Intel chips in their smartphones.
Canonical announces Ubuntu for Android
In the most comprehensive attempt to merge desktops and smartphones, Canonical has announced Ubuntu for Android later yesterday, which will be show-cased at the upcoming Mobile World Congress.
Ubuntu for Android is full Ubuntu OS running on your phone side-by-side with Android with a shared kernel. With Ubuntu for Android, your phone works like any other Android smartphone normally but as soon as you connect it to a dock with a monitor, it also launches the familiar Ubuntu desktop experience on the attached screen.

Motorola has revealed more details on its Android 4.0 update schedule for its smartphones and tablets. Company will be releasing ICS updates for over 20 Android devices from its current portfolio.
Google-Motorola deal likely to get US Dept of Justice nod next week
US Department of Justice is likely to clear the Google-Motorola deal, stated WSJ citing sources familiar with the matter. This clearance could come as early as next week, giving Google a hardware company as well as thousands of wireless technology patents.
On the other hand, European Union regulators are also scheduled to rule on the acquisition. They would either clear the deal or open an in-depth enquiry, which can take upto 90 days.
