There won’t be any Android 4.2 update for Xoom , Nexus S

With the release of Android 4.2, Google has revealed that it will no longer be releasing any major Android updates for Motorola Xoom and Nexus S smartphone. Both the devices were supported for a surprisingly long time and it is expected that they won’t be getting Android 4.2.

Mysterious new software release being soak tested for the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi in US

If you own a Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi, live in US and are currently enrolled in the Motorola Feedback Network, it looks like a new soak test is on its way, as per an email that just popped up in our inbox. No specifics were given, the email did make mention of “an early preview of a new software release.”

Motorola sold 100 refurbished Xoom tablets without wiping data

In a step that could have had serious privacy implications, Motorola sold around 100 refurbished Xoom Wi-Fi units in United States that were not cleared of previous owners’ data. Company had come clean yesterday and advised the users, who returned their Xoom between March and October 2011, to get a free complimentary membership of Experian’s ProtectMyID Alert to mitigate any risk to its customers.

Motorola Xoom 3G price goes down to INR 22,500 in India

Remember, we recently reported that Motorola has reduced the price of Xoom models in the Indian market. Well, it has been reduced even further, now online retailers like Flipkart and Letsbuy are selling the 3G version for INR 22,999 and INR 22,500 respectively. OnLive brings console-like gaming to Android phones, tablets

Craving for console-like gaming on your tablet or smartphone then you are in luck, popular cloud gaming service provider OnLive has announced the launch of its official Android app for tablets and smartphones. Available right now in only UK and US, it supports select devices (full list is given below), but the number is going to increase the near future.

Company has already adopted 25 of its library of 200 console games including L.A. Noire from Rockstar Games for touchscreen support, while you can play rest of them using the Universal OnLive Wireless Controller. This controller will be available soon for purchase in the US and the UK, for $49.99 and £39.99 respectively.

OnLive basically streams the whole game-play to your device via cloud, so you don’t have to install anything.  any game purchased on one OnLive app device (TV, PC, Mac, tablet or mobile device) can be played instantly on any other OnLive app device, with your whole game-played saved and carried forward.

Compatibility:

The OnLive app requires at least Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has been tested on the following devices: Acer Iconia Tab A500, ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, HTC Evo View, HTC Flyer, HTC Jetstream, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Sony Ericsson Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive, HTC EVO, HTC Nexus One, HTC Rezound 4G, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL, Motorola Droid 2, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola DROID BIONIC 4G, Motorola DROID RAZR 4G, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy S II 4G.

Rockstar announces GTA III coming to Android next week

Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition will be available on select Android devices starting December 15. The Android version of this popular game will be priced at $4.99 in the Android Market.

Motorola Xoom 2, Xoom 2 Media Edition priced in UK

Motorola’s official press release about Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition launch did not mention the pricing details, but folks over Recombu have got it directly from horse’s mouth at the launch event.

According to the publication, Xoom 2 will be sold for £379.99 (INR 30K), while Xoom 2 Media Edition will be priced at £329.99 (INR 26K). It might not be the greatest pricing, but Motorola seems to have learnt something from its Xoom pricing debacle.

Announced later yesterday, Xoom 2 and Media Edition will be available in UK and Ireland in mid-November, i.e. sometime around next to next week. There is still no word on international launch.

Motorola Xoom 2 appears on Carphone Warehouse flyer, priced at €400

After a little break, Motorola Xoom 2 is back in leaks. This upcoming tablet was today spotted in UK retailer Carphone Warehouse flyer touting a price of €399.99 for the 16GB WiFi version.
