HTC launches Wildfire in India for 16,000 INR
As we earlier anticipated of the Wildfire launch. HTC released the device in Indian market recently.
As the successor to HTC Tattoo in the market, the smartphone comes with Android 2.1 on board (HTC has promised Froyo update for all the devices released in 2010, so Wildfire will get it too). Other specs include 528 MHz processor, a 3.2 inch QVGA capacitive display, 512 MB ROM and 384 MB RAM, 3G, Wi-Fi, internal GPS receiver, 5.0 MP camera, 3.5 mm audio jack and a 1300 mAh battery. The handset will retail for Rs 16,000.

India has seen some of the real cool Android phones launches this year, from Motorola Milestone original to Samsung Galaxy S. Another nice touchscreen Motorola Android phone is ready to hit the Indian selves soon. Fone Arena is reporting that Milestone XT720, which was earlier launched in Europe and Korea will reach India market with a price tag of 30,000 INR.
RCom launches India’s first CDMA Android phone ‘Samsung Galaxy i899′
Reliance Communications and Samsung today launched India’s first Android-powered CDMA handset Samsung Galaxy i899. Samsung Galaxy i899 will offer speeds upto 3.1 Mbps to Reliance Mobile customers.
”The launch of Samsung Galaxy i899, Smart Phone, is in line with our strategy to offer next-generation services with unmatched voice clarity, hi-speed wireless data network access and ultra-fast application downloads on India’s largest and only nationwide CDMA mobile service to Reliance Mobile customers,” said Vrajesh Shelat, head of handset and data services, Reliance Communications, announcing the new handset.
Featuring a 3.2” AMOLED touch-screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and expandable memory upto 32GB, Samsung Galaxy i899 will be selling for Rs 19,900.

Motorola will soon be launching its dual-mode EVDO Rev A + GSM Android smartphone XT800 to other Asian countries. Renamed as Motorola Glam will launch with 3.7 inch display bearing 480×854 pixels resolution, 5.0 MP camera and has the usual connectivity options – Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5 mm audio jack.

Get ready to see more and more cheap Android phones hitting India and China as Google plans to take the competition with Nokia one step up. The search engine giant aims to put Android on lower-priced phones made by Huawei and LG.
According to Andy Rubin, vice-president of engineering at Google, “The down-market opportunity is about to happen.” It’s actually quite a revolution, he added.
Both India and China are emerging mobile markets, but a large chunk of them is filled with cheap phones manufactured by local companies and Nokia. So, Google is helping handset makers like Huawei and LG to offer cheaper smartphones with Android on them.
Indian firm Lemon to launch dual-sim Android handset
The Indian mobile manufacturer Lemon will soon be launching India’s first dual-sim Android handset named ‘P1′. Similar to their other phones, this is also going to be an entry level phone with price hovering somewhere around 8,000 INR.
P1 will be sporting a 400MHz processor and Android 1.6. No other details are currently available, but expect the launch soon.
Lemon is also set to launch an application store in 4-6 months. The store will offer a mix of free and paid applications.
RCom to launch Samsung Galaxy I899 as their first Android smartphone
Remember we reported about how RCom was planning to launch Android phones in India. It seems we got to know about their first Android handset and it would be from Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy I899 is currently on a pre-order status on RCom website. Talking about the specs, it comes with a 800MHz processor, a 3.2-inch AMOLED HVGA (320×480) resistive touchscreen display with anti-scratch coating, Android OS, 3.2MP auto focus camera with LED flash, GPS, various sensors, Bluetooth, 512MB internal memory and microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB. I899 also supports out-of-the-box DivX/Xvid formats, USB 2.0 and has a 1440mAh battery.
We expect it to be priced aggressively, some where around 12,000-15,000 bracket.

Latest bit of rumour from Fone Arena is suggesting that HTC Desire might be finally arriving in India in July. Last bit of information was about May launch which never happened, so we are taking everything now with a pinch of salt.
HTC Hero Android 2.1 update for India now available
Finally for Indian users, HTC Hero Android 2.1 update is here. HTC Website today posted the details for the update, some of you might have already downloaded and applied it, but those of you still waiting, here is your chance, go ahead and grab it. Enough of wait for Hero owners. While there are less chances that Hero will ever see an official Android 2.2 update, this is the last full Android release for it.
Putting Eclair on Hero comes with several benefits, like able to use Apps designed specifically for phones having Android 2.1 or more. Twitter official app is one example.

MTS will introduce Android smartphones for Indian customers next month. The company also plans to keep prices competitive. Leonid Musatov, chief marketing officer, SSTL said, “We plan to make smartphones available for our customers beginning this July. We’ll be extremely aggressive on the price front, we don’t intend to make vendor margin.”
