A leaked official firmware for Samsung Galaxy S has come to light and is being dubbed as the so-called value pack update. There is clearly not much value in this value pack, Samsung seems to have thrown Face Unlock, a photo editor app, ability to take pictures simultaneously while shooting a video, and a new lock-screen.

The Samsung Galaxy S ICS update saga does not seem to be ending on a happy note here. After a lot of drama and rumors, Samsung has told TNW today that there is no value pack or official ICS update in making for Galaxy S users.

It seems Samsung has decided to give a consolation update to Galaxy S users, not the full Ice Cream Sandwich update. It was reported yesterday that Samsung was looking to fit ICS on Galaxy S, but according to them they were not able to do so because of low RAM on the device.

Samsung has announced that the cumulative sales of Galaxy S and Galaxy S II have reached 30 million. The statement comes days after the SGS2 went on to cross 10 million sales in just five months of launch and contributed the almost the same number to the cumulative sales, while original Galaxy S sales seems to have crossed 20 million and it is available in the market for the past 16 months.

Samsung has planned to update original Galaxy S to Android 2.3.4 update sometime this quarter. The testing of the update is already underway, but it is not confirmed when exactly the update will be available. SamFirmware has got hold of one such test firmware with Android 2.3.4.

Samsung has officially announced that it will start rolling out Android 2.3 update to a series of Galaxy devices from mid-May. If you thought you would be lucky to get Gingerbread on your Galaxy S soon, but you are out of luck here. Vodafone UK has announced that Samsung has stopped the roll out of Gingerbread update for all versions, so telecom operator’s version will also not get the update.
