Droid 2 R2-D2 special edition to have a mid-night launch on Sep 29
Everything seems set for the mid-night launch of the special edition Droid 2 R2-D2 Android smartphone. Select Verizon stores have been taken over by the R2-D2 theme and you can clearly see below, all the preparations.
The R2-D2 edition launches on September 30th, and about 100 stores will be opening up very early to facilitate customers. It seems 50,000 units of the special edition are up for sales. Still no word on pricing, but we will hear soon.

Isn’t that too much of Droid? Well, we are not complaining. We have heard about all of them Droid Tab, Droid Pro and even Droid 2 World Edition, but today BGR reported another confirmation of their existence. All the three devices were spotted in Verizon inventory listings.
Motorola Droid Pro A957 is apparently coming with a 4? display, 1.3GHz CPU, and global roaming capability , and is set for a November launch. Motorola is also working on World Edition of Droid 2.

Well, Droid 2 is very much on its way. Now we have something to feel and read about the phone. Droid-Life just scored on the Motorola Droid 2 user Guide.
It clearly seems from the user guide the Droid 2 will be coming with Android 2.2 on-board. And Droid X will come with the same Motoblur alternative which features in Droid X.
Verizon Droid 2 set for August 12 launch
Verizon users get ready for Droid 2 landing. Engadget is reporting that Motorola Droid 2 might be launched as early as August 12. Well, that is not very far.
Another interesting bit of information that leaked states that there will be a Star Wars edition of the phone, keeping in mind the whole name ‘Droid’ is licensed from LucasFilms, this isn’t a surprise.

Droid 2 leaked pics
Droid 2 is back. Verizon yesterday launched the teaser website for Droid X, but Droid 2 still remains. However, a Gizmodo reader got a chance to play with Droid 2 at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA) tech show. According to him, Droid 2 has 5.0 megapixel camera, 8GB of internal memory, 1 Ghz processor, QWERTY keypad and the device is expected to come with Android stock UI.

Motorola, Verizon announcing Droid X and Droid 2 on June 23

So, are you ready. It is now almost official that Verizon and Motorola will be announcing Droid X and Droid 2 on June 23. The presence of Adobe at the launch event confirms that the devices will indeed come with Flash support and Froyo sweetness.
One more thing, Apple iPhone is hitting stores on June 24, so this is Android’s attempt to ruin their party at least a bit
. So wait till net week and everything will be crystal clear.
