AT&T has announced that it would soon allow users of Android phones on its network to officially install non-market Android apps. The first step in this direction will be allowing Amazon App store to function, and later telecom operator will open it for all non-market apps.

DroidDream malware invades Android Market; over 50 apps infected
Malware DroidDream is turning out to be a nightmare for Android users. More and more apps are being detected of being infected with this malware. Droid Dream contains exploit code that can root a user’s device as well code that can send sensitive information (IMEI and IMSI) from the phone to a remote server. There is another APK hidden inside the code, which can steal additional sensitive data.

Myriad launches VM to run Android apps on other platforms
Myriad recently announced Alien Dalvik, a virtual machine that will allow users to run Android apps on other platforms, like Nokia Meego Phones.
Alien Dalvik enables the majority of Android applications to run unmodified, allowing application store owners to quickly kick start Android application store services by simply repackaging Android Package (APK) files, says Myriad group.

RIM mulling to allow Android apps on Playbook
This is the biggest rumor of the day. According to BGR, Research in Motion is seriously considering using Dalvik virtual machine for its Playbook and may be future devices, which is the same VM used by Android.
And, if RIM chooses Dalvik, it would allow RIM’s PlayBook and other QNX devices to run applications built for the Android, which will truly be a great step for RIM’s future.

Mplayit launches in-Facebook Android app directory
Mplayit today launched a comprehensive Android app discovery directory within a Facebook app. It will catalog over 16,000 Android applications on the social network.
Mplayit’s directory of Android apps includes a dedicated page for each app where Mplayit will post videos of the app (created either by the developer or pulled from YouTube), a detailed description of the app and reviews. You can also click to buy the app from the Android Market.
Once you start clicking on various app and downloading apps, Mplayit will begin to recommend apps to you based on your behavior on the site. And you can share apps on Facebook and Twitter.
