Asus launches upgraded Fonepad in Taiwan, puts 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2460 inside
Asus has been releasing its Fonepad Android 3G tablet around the world with Intel Atom Z2420 Lexington processor but looks like the company decided to switch processor to release an upgraded version in Taiwan.
According to a report in Engadget Chinese, Asus has included the Medfield based 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2460 processor in Fonepad for launch in its home country. Z2460 processor was first seen in XOLO X900 and Lenovo K800 smartphones. It is slightly powerful than Z2420, but one shouldn’t expect great performance boost.

HTC launches mid-range Desire L in Taiwan
HTC has listed yet another mid-range Android smartphone on its Taiwan website today. Dubbed as Desire L, the phone joins the company’s growing portfolio of Android devices in its home market. Looks like, HTC is following the Samsung strategy of flooding the market in the country.
HTC Desire L has nothing very special, but it is decent enough for those who don’t want to spend too much money on their phone purchase.

Samsung being investigated for hiring students to criticize HTC online
Taiwanese authorities are investigating complaints alleging that the Korean manufacturer hired students in the country to attack HTC products and recommend Samsung, reports AFP.
Taiwanese Fair Trade Commission stated today that a case was set-up last week after they received the complaints.

HTC launches Desire Q, now available in Taiwan
Within days of officially unveiling Desire P, HTC has also launched Desire Q smartphone. The smartphone was officially released in company’s home-country Taiwan. The phone has been priced at NT$6,990 ($234 or €182) and is now available via telecom operator FarEasTone.
HTC Desire Q packs almost the same features as previously released Desire U model. The only difference is looks. It is very surprising why HTC is launching two smartphones with same specs that too in the same country.

HTC launches Desire P with dual-core CPU, 4.3-inch display
Soon after getting leaked online, HTC’s Desire P has been officially unveiled today. The Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has launched the smartphone in its home-market with telco Chunghwa Telecom.
There is no word on the broader availability and it may never get to another country. Packing the mid-range specifications, the HTC Desire P seems like a variant of company’s earlier released One SV smartphone without 4G LTE support.

Asus FonePad now on pre-order in Taiwan
Asus has started taking pre-orders for its first Intel powered tablet – FonePad in Taiwan. The tablet, which was announced at Mobile World Congress last month, will go on sale at the end of March.
Asus FonePad runs on Android 4.1 and comes with 3G connectivity as well as voice-calling support. The tablet is being sold at NT $8,900 ($302) for the 16GB model. Asus has also partnered with Chunghwa Telecom to sell the FonePad on contract. The telco will be subsidizing the tablet and retailing it for free with a two-year contract with monthly plans beginning NT $1,343 ($45.07).

Samsung unveils Pink colour Galaxy Note II
Samsung has launched yet another colour variant of Galaxy Note II phablet in the form of Pink version. Right now, the Martian Pink version has only been released in Taiwan, but we expect to see it in more countries very soon.
This is the fifth colour variant to be available for Note II after White, Grey, amber brown and ruby wine. The last two colours were introduced just weeks ago. Apart from the colour difference, other specifications of the phone remain the same – 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display, quad-core Exynos processor and 8MP camera.

HTC announces Desire U with 1GHz processor, Ice Cream Sandwich
HTC has launched a new entry-level Desire series Android smartphone in its home country Taiwan. Dubbed as Desire U, the phone will go on sale with Chunghwa Telecom for NT$7,990 (US$275), however there are several other contracts options also available. There is no word on the global release right now, but we can expect the phone to hit other Asian markets like India in the near future if not North America or Europe.
HTC Desire U packs a single core 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4-inch WVGA display, and 4GB of internal storage. It also comes with a 5MP camera on the back and 1650 mAh removable battery. From these specs, the Desire U seems like a continuation of Desire C smartphone.

As promised, HTC has started rolling out Android 4.1 update to One X smartphone on Friday. The update is currently live in company’s home country Taiwan and Singapore. Company has also promised to release the update in other Asian countries soon.
Asus Padfone 2 official; packs 1.5GHz S4 Pro, 4.7-inch HD display, 13MP camera
Asus has unveiled the next iteration of its smartphone-tablet hybrid in Taiwan today. As seen in leaks earlier, the Asus Padfone 2 comes with better hardware specs as compared to its predecessor.
