Qualcomm has launched new processor that will power Smart TVs and Digital media adapters. Company showcased the capability of these processors in Dr. Paul E. Jacobs’ keynote at CES recently via Lenovo’s K91 Smart TV, which will be the first product to come with this processor.
LG’s Q4 handset results improve, to launch 5 inch LTE phablet
As LG seeks to turnaround its handset business, last quarter has brought some positives for the company. In an interview with Reuters, LG’s mobile business head Park Jong-seok stated that LG saw results improving “a lot” in the fourth quarter thanks to solid sales of its Optimus LTE model, which went on sale in early October.

Motorola and Intel have entered into a multi-year, multi-device partnership and we will start seeing the fruits of this deal as early as second half of this year. Motorola is expected to release Android smartphones and tablets late this year, which will be powered by Intel’s Atom processor.
Microsoft sues Motorola in UK
Microsoft has filed a lawsuit against Motorola Mobility in London High Court recently, reported Bloomberg. Court papers however did not include the exact nature of the Microsoft’s claim against Motorola.
It is expected to be a patents related case considering it came days after Microsoft won a ruling before the US ITC over claims Android-based smartphones infringe Microsoft’s patents.
Neither of the companies has so-far issued any statements on the UK lawsuit, but we hope to hear something soon.
Motorola to unveil wireless charging solutions at CES

Motorola Mobility is planning to launch some kind of wireless charging solution at Consumer Electronics Show sometime in next two days. Company released a teaser video suggesting the same yesterday. While the video does not specifically says anything but the underlying message is pretty clear.
HTC profit falls 26% in Q4’11

HTC has announced its un-audited fourth-quarter figures today and for the first time in last two years, company has seen a down-fall. Its net profit fell by 26% to NT$ 11.02 billion (US$365 million) from NT$14.80 billion a year earlier; along with the revenue, which also fell by 2.5% to NT$101.42 billion from NT$104.01 billion.

Soon after Marvell announced its partnership with Google for the use of ARMADA 1500 in Google TV devices, Google has officially detailed the list of new partners for TV solutions. According to a blog post, LG, Vizio, MediaTek, Marvell (already talked), Samsung and Sony (existing) will now be making hardware for Google TV. Most of the mentioned companies will be showcasing their products at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show.
Lenovo, ZTE and other Chinese manufacturers form alliance to keep off patent lawsuits

It seems some of the Chinese mobile phone manufacturers have decided to form an alliance to help them in fighting off the ever increasing patent lawsuits. A Digitimes report states that Lenovo, ZTE, TCL, Coolpad and Konka are part of this group.

The latest report from comScore has not thrown any surprises our way, as expected Android continued its rise in the last three months’ smartphone shipments. In terms of manufacturers, Samsung was on the top spot in all mobile shipments including smartphones.
LG to launch first Intel Medfield powered Android phones at CES
LG will be reportedly launching the first Android smartphones with Intel’s Medfield SoC at Consumer Electronics Show next month. These smartphones are expected to reach stores in March 2012.
