We finally know the pricing of Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z in India. The tablet, which started rolling out globally this week, has been priced at INR 44.990. As per pre-order listings on Flipkart and Infibeam.com, it will be available in the first week of June in the country.

The Xperia Tablet Z version on sale in the country comes with 16GB of internal storage and 3G connectivity. Other features of the tablet include 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z also packs a 10.1-inch 1920x1200p full HD display, Android 4.1 and 8.1MP rear camera.

The tablet might be the best possible Android tablet in the country right now, but we still believe the pricing is simply too much. The company is charging almost INR 17K incentive for 3G over the Wi-Fi version pricing of $499 in the US. Sony India has seriously lost it, we hope the company comes back to its senses and corrects the pricing in the next few days.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z key features

8.1 megapixels rear camera, 2.2MP front-facing camera

Dimensions: 172 x 266 x 6.9 mm, weighs 495 grams

Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)

1.5 GHz Qualcomm APQ8064+MDM9215M quad-core processor

Micromax has released yet another 5-inch Canvas-series smartphone in the country yesterday. Available on its official e-store and select retailers, the phone is an upgraded version of the company’s already available A110 Canvas 2 smartphone.

Running on Android 4.2, the phone also features similar specifications to that of A116 Canvas HD smartphone apart from the HD display.

In this report, we will be comparing Micromax A110Q and A110 smartphones to see whether the upgrades make the phone better and do they justify the price-rise or not.

To remind you, Micromax A110 Canvas 2 is being sold at around INR 9,999, while the newly announced Canvas A110Q Canvas 2 Plus is available for INR 12,100.

A110Q Canvas 2 Plus vs A110 Canvas 2

In favour of A110Q: The quad-core processor on-board is a decent upgrade over the dual-core CPU in A110. 1GB of RAM is another positive and so is the presence of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Design-wise, both the phones look exactly the same.

In favour of A110: Apart from the slightly lower price than A110Q Canvas 2 Plus, there are no reason to choose A110 here; the A110Q pricing is justified considering the upgraded features.

LG Nexus 4, which became available on Flipkart just a day ago, is already out of stock. The online retailer had exclusive access to the phone until May 30; so no other retailer is selling the phone right now. They are expected to start Nexus 4 sales on May 30/ 31, so if you are planning to get Nexus 4 immediately, you are a little late to the party.

Officially announced for the Indian market just days ago, Nexus 4 is priced at INR 25,990, making it the best Android smartphone to buy in this budget. Given the positives of the phone, it is not surprising that we are seeing such demand for the device, even though the phone has launched over six months after the US release.

There is no word on when Flipkart will be getting the next stock; chances are you might have to wait until May 30th.

To remind you, Nexus 4 has been manufactured by LG for Google. It features a 4.7-inch HD display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 16GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera, front camera and Android 4.2.

Update: Flipkart has starting taking orders for Nexus 4 once again, but as it does not have stocks right now, it will be shipping the phone once the stocks arrive.

Being one of the most anticipated launches of the year, everyone is just waiting for HTC One’s India availability. After the delay of almost one month, HTC One is finally reaching the Indian market.

According to the reports from brick and mortar stores, the first stocks of the smartphone will start reaching later today or tomorrow in the metros, while other cities and towns should get the phone beginning next week.

If you are planning to buy HTC One from your neighbourhood retailer, contact them now, the initial stocks are expected to be limited, but more stocks are expected in the coming weeks.

On the e-retailer front, all the major online stores have started listing the phone. Infibeam is showing HTC One in stock with an expected shipment time of 1-2 days. Flipkart and Snapdeal have also listed the smartphone, but are currently taking the pre-orders, probably just waiting for the stocks, as they have listed the expected availability of the next week.

Saholic, which was first to list the phone, is still showing the shipment time of 8 days, seems like they jumped the gun in taking orders for a phone, which is yet to reach their warehouses.

To remind you, the phone has been priced at INR 42,990, and it is expected to sell at the same pricing for the next few weeks, after that we should see some relaxation in the pricing.

Update: As we reported earlier, some retailers have started getting the HTC One stocks. Here is an image from Kolkata.

Update (May 21, 2013): Flipkart has now started shipping Nexus 4. So, if you want to buy Nexus 4, this is your chance.

Earlier (May 16, 2013): After the reports of Nexus 4 pre-orders on Flipkart, LG India has now officially announced the launch of Nexus 4 smartphone in the country today. Priced almost same as the pre-order listing, the phone will be available at INR 25,999 (16GB version) in the country.

It might not be at par with the Google Play pricing, but it is still a very decent price compared to similar featured smartphones from other companies.

To remind you, Nexus devices like Nexus 4 are the first ones for receive new Android updates as soon as they are announced by Google, sometimes within days of the official unveiling.

It is important to note here that Nexus 4 took a surprisingly long time (although not as much as Nexus 7) to reach the Indian market. The phone was originally announced back in October by Google and it went on sale in November in select countries. The initial reports had pegged India release around November-end, but they turned out to be false.

To remind you, Nexus 4 features 4.7-inch True HD IPS display and is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, the same SoC, which is present in Xperia Z and ZL). The phone also packs 2GB of RAM, Android 4.2.2 and 16GB of internal storage. There is no microSD card slot to increase the storage, so you will have to rely on Google Drive or other cloud storage solutions.

“LG Electronics is pleased to partner Google on the release of the Nexus 4 in India. We added the best of our talent to our strength, and the result is a feature- packed smartphone that packs superb hardware under a slim hood. With LG Nexus 4, consumers would be delighted by the perfectly balanced combination of style, function and power, said Soon Kwon, Managing Director, LG Electronics India.

The smartphone will be sold online as well as via select LG exclusive brand shops, Multi brand outlets and major retail stores across India.

XOLO is getting ready with a successor to the company’s previously launched A500 smartphone in the form of A500+. The upcoming smartphone will keep the display size to 4-inch, but replace the processor to MediaTek from Qualcomm in the predecessor.

According to a report in Android Nova, the XOLO A500+ is expected to be launched in June (next month) for around INR 6,500.

The smartphone will run on Android 4.2, which is a positive as it is the latest version of Android available right now, not sure if it will be the case when A500+ goes on sale in June. Among other specs, the phone will reportedly pack a 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, dual-SIM support and 2,000 mAh battery.

A500+ also packs 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. At the reported pricing, the features do seem decent but it will be the real life performance that will matter the most.

In related news, XOLO’s leaked X910+ smartphone is already on sale, and the XOLO will soon announce Play T1000 and Q2000 smartphones.

XOLO has been expanding its smartphone portfolio at a very swift face in the recent few weeks. Thanks to the presence of Intel-powered phones, XOLO’s portfolio isn’t as monotonous as other home-grown companies that are just launching Chinese re-branded products, although it is important to point out here that XOLO does sell some re-branded products, and A500+ seems to be one of those.

Nexus 4 is finally here. After six months of going on sale in the United States, this LG built Nexus smartphone is set to land in Indian retail stores. Priced at INR 25,990, it is the best Android smartphone that you can buy at this price. Certainly, there are better devices out there, but not at the pricing.

Why do I think that Nexus 4 is the best Android smartphone at INR 25,990 in the Indian market? Let’s find out.

It is a Nexus phone

What is the biggest advantage of buying Nexus 4? It is a Nexus device – built by LG as per guidelines from Google directly. Running a pure Android version, it is the Google’s reference device for other manufacturers.

What can be better than Google’s implementation of Android? Bloated manufacturer skins – certainly not.

In addition, Nexus devices get guaranteed Android updates, within days of Google’s announcement of a new Android version. No more looking for custom ROMs to get latest Android version (you can alweays use them for other reasons, but you don’t need them for Android updates).

Developer/ modding friendly

It is developer friendly device and allows tinkering. Unlock the bootloader, root the phone, do whatever the hell you want to do with it and when you get bored, go to Google and download a factory image and flash it to your phone and it is as good as it was when you bought it.

Excellent value for money

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, it is almost as powerful as the latest flagships from other smartphone makers. As it is six months old, you can’t expect it to crush the latest phones in the benchmarks, but it will give you a great real-life performance and can easily take on any task you throw at it.

With 2GB of RAM inside, you don’t need to worry about your phone being sluggish when there are lots of apps open.

The camera is decent enough and also gives you access to Photo Sphere feature to take 360 degree images.

And, don’t compare the India pricing to the US Google Play price ($349 + $50 (taxes + shipping)), we can’t expect LG India to match that, anyways, you are paying just INR 4,000 premium over the US price, which is a better deal than most countries that got the phone directly from LG.

There are obviously some issues with the phone as are with all other phones, none of the smartphones are perfect.

So, this is why we think that Nexus 4 is the best smartphone you can buy at INR 25,990, what do you guys think, do you agree with me? Or, do you find other phones to be to be better option?

Samsung has silently reduced the price of its Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab 2 311 in the Indian market. The tablet is now available for just INR 8,999 at Flipkart; other e-retailers are also offering the tablet at similar but slightly higher prices.

To remind you, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 311 was earlier selling for INR 11,900, so it is almost INR 2,000 reduction in the price of this tablet.

At the pricing, the tablet is a no-brainer for anyone looking to grab a sub-INR 10K tablet. It features a 7-inch 1024x600p resolution display, 1GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.1.

The tablet also comes with 3-megapixel rear camera, front camera, 16GB of internal storage and 4,000m Ah battery.

There is no word on whether Samsung India wants to issue a price-cut for Tab 2 310 (the 3G version) as well, which is still selling for around INR 15,900 in the country.

To remind you, Samsung also retails Galaxy Note 800 and Galaxy Note 8.0 tablets in the country, which are currently selling for INR 34,500 and INR 30,900 respectively.

Panasonic has revealed that it plans to launch eight more smartphones in the Indian market this year. These smartphones will be priced between INR 6,990 and INR 35,000, company executives announced at the launch of P51, its first Android phone in the country.

The Japanese manufacturer has just re-entered the Indian mobile space, it earlier used to sell feature-phones in the country. With the growing demand of smartphones all over, the company is looking to get back in the game.

Panasonic’s India smartphone efforts are particularly interesting in the wake of its departure from the European market last year after releasing just two smartphones in the region. Looks like, it really thinks that it can succeed in the country, which is currently dominated by Samsung and the local handset makers.

The company also announced at the P51 launch event that it is eyeing 8 per cent of the Indian smartphone market share in the first year.

“It has always been our endeavor to excel in all aspects of consumer technology. The launch of Panasonic Smartphone in India marks the beginning of our journey in the Indian mobile phone market and will bring together the ultimate smartphone user experience. The smartphone series will come power-packed with features and will cater to the consumers across the spectrum – from mid-tier to the premium class. With an aim to garner a market share of 8% in the first year, this product will showcase the convergence of Panasonic’s pioneering technology and consumer insight,” said Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India.

Do you think that it can achieve 8pc market share? We have doubts; let us know about your opinion in the comments section.
