LG Hong Kong has revealed on its official Facebook page that the company will be releasing Jelly Bean update to Optimus 4X HD, Optimus L9 and L7 smartphones in the first half of this year. LG Hong Kong has not given any exact time-frame, so we will have to wait and watch.
Also, given the past track record of LG in providing software updates to its Android device, we are not very confident even about the first half schedule.
All three 4X HD, L9 and L7 currently run on Android 4.0 with company’s Optimus UI on top. The Jelly Bean will bring the latest software improvements like Project Butter, UI updates, enhanced notifications, homescreen changes, Google Now and more.

Xiaomi teases Mi2 launch in Hong Kong, sells 50K units in 5 minutes on Sina Weibo
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is finally planning to expand out of the home-market and it seems Hong Kong will be the first country outside China to see the launch of its Mi2 smartphone. In other news, the company carried out the experiment of selling Mi2 smartphone via Sina-Weibo social network earlier this week and it turned out to be a big success.
According to a report in Tech in Asia, Xiaomi teased its plans to expand in Hong Kong yesterday via a tweet from its official @XiaomiChina account. The tweet states:
“Xiaomi is going to launch a new market in [blank] on [blank].”
While the text part of the tweet did not have anything revealing the Hong Kong launch plans, the attached image listed out the key specs of its Mi2 phone in traditional Chinese script, which is used in Hong Kong and Taiwan, but not in mainland China. The same image also contained a map of Hong Kong in silhouette, and had the Bauhinia flower (as appears on the Hong Kong flag).
Making it almost certain that Hong Kong expansion is very likely to happen.
Earlier, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun had hinted towards Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore as targets for online sales by the end of the year.
In other news, Xiaomi experimented with its traditional online selling model by offering its latest smartphone Mi2 on social network Sina-Weibo. The experiment was a success, as the batch of 50,000 Mi2 smartphones was sold out in just 5 minutes and 14 seconds, claimed Xiaomi.
The buyers will be paying for the phone using Sina’s new WeiboPay e-payment service and will receive the phone in two days, reports The Next Web.
