NVIDIA to target mid-range smartphone segment with Tegra 4i: Report
NVIDIA has indicated to The Motley Fool’s Evan Niu that it wants to focus on mid-range smartphones rather than fighting in the high-end segment. The company is preparing its Tegra 4i chip to cater the segment but it is still a long time away.
“The way that NVIDIA sees it, the high-end smartphone market is totally dominated by Apple and Samsung, both of which use in-house applications processors as much as possible. Apple only uses A-chips nowadays, and Samsung uses both its Exynos chips and Qualcomm’s Snapdragons. These are two OEMs that NVIDIA doesn’t think are worth pursuing,” The Motley Fool noted in a report.

Google Translate, Earth and I/O apps get updates, bunch of changes in tow
Google has released updates for Earth, Translate and I/O Android apps earlier today. These updates bring a host of changes to these applications and add new functionality. Google I/O especially has been updated to support the event for this year and adds quite a few goodies.

Talking about Google Translate first, the app now supports translation via camera-input for 16 more languages: Bulgarian, Catalan, Danish, Estonian, Finnish, Croatian, Hungarian, Indonesian, Icelandic, Lithuanian, Latvian, Norwegian, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, and Swedish.

Microsoft Office Web Apps to get Android tablet support
Microsoft has revealed that it will soon be adding Android tablet support for Office Web Apps. The users will be able to access the Office Web Apps using the Chrome browser on the tablet.
The company was not forthcoming on the exact timing for the Android tablet support but now that it is official; we can expect it to happen in the coming weeks.

Google posts I/O 2013 session schedule, only one keynote this year
Google I/O 2013 is just 14 days away and as always we will be seeing several new things from Google at this dev conference. The session schedule and agenda posted by Google suggest that we will only be one keynote speech this year at the conference.
There is still no clear idea on what to expect this year. As per reports, Android 5.0 has been delayed and we are likely to see Android 4.3, which won’t be a major update. So, the keynote will most likely include little-little from Android, Chrome, Google TV and Google+.
Larry Page on Motorola, Android and Google Glass at Q1 earnings call
Search giant Google announced its first quarter financial results of 2013 late yesterday. The results un-surprisingly passed Wall Street expectations, thanks to advertising revenue increase for the company. The company CEO Larry Page shared his thoughts on the state of Android, Motorola and Google’s overall mobile ambitions. He also shared a little peek at what can be we expect from Motorola in the coming days, most of which was vague and similar to what he had said in the last quarter’s earning call.

- Google posted consolidated revenues of $13.97 billion with 31% growth year-on-year basis.
- Motorola Mobility revenues dropped to $1.02 billion, posted loss of $271 million this quarter.

Behavioural data collection start-up Behavio joins Google
Behavio, a start-up working on recording and analyzing behavioural data using smartphones, is joining Google. It is not an acquisition, but the talented lot of people working for Behavio, will now be working for Google.

LG showcases Optimus G Pro value pack update on video (Update)
Smart Video eye recognition, Dual-camera and more demoed
LG has demoed the earlier announced value pack update for its Optimus G Pro smartphone. The update, which will soon be released for this Galaxy Note II competitor from LG, will bring features like Smart Video eye recognition, Dual-camera and more.
The Korean manufacturer has now released a video showcasing these features. Company mainly highlights three features of the value pack update in this video – Video Pause/Resume, Dual Camera function and Smart Video. Check out the video below.

Samsung Galaxy Win gets official, first to go on sale in China
Just yesterday, we told you guys abut Samsung’s Galaxy Win smartphone; well it is now official, at least in China. Packing the same specs, as reported earlier, the phone will go on sale soon in the country. We still don’t know about the exact details about release date or pricing, but it should get clear soon.
Carrying the model number GT-I8552, the phone is also going to be available as GT-I869 and GT-I8558, probably for other carriers, notes Sammy Hub in post.

Google changes Android adoption tracking method
Jelly Bean now on 25pc of Android devices
Google has revealed that it has changed the way it tracks the Android version adoption among consumers and the new method should “more accurately reflects those users who are most engaged in the Android and Google Play ecosystem,” noted Google on the Android Developers website.
The first results using the new method are in and apart from the Jelly Bean share; there seem to be no dramatic shifts in the overall Android adoption results.
