Clothing retailer Next launches Android tablet
It seems electronics manufacturers weren’t enough that UK’s Clothing retailer Next has launched an Android tablet. It seems to be a re-branded tablet, made by some Chinese/Taiwanese company.
This 10.1 inch tablet comes with some decent specs, but a very poor battery life. Some the specs are:
- A backlit LED screen with a 1024×600 resolution
- An ARM 1GHz LNX Code 11 processor
- 256MB RAM
- 8GB of onboard storage
- Android 2.1
- 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi
- A USB port
- A microSD port
- Stereo speakers
It will sell for £180 and is available directly from Next.co.uk
T-Mobile UK to release Android 2.2 update for Galaxy S by September end
At least some Galaxy S users can be happy, as T-Mobile UK just promised that it will be going by the earlier time-frame of September and will be releasing Froyo update for Samsung’s flagship Android phone in the coming days.
In the coming next ten days, T-Mobile UK users will be able to download Android 2.2 update from Samsung Kies and only that to their Galaxy S.

Sim-Free and Unlocked HTC Desire HD & Desire Z coming to Expansys on Oct 11
There is a good news for those waiting for recently launched Android 2.2 powered HTC Desire HD and Desire Z. UK Online retailer Expansys will start selling unlocked & sim-free version of both smartphones from October 11.
Desire HD and Z are currently on a pre-order status on the website. Expansys is selling HTC Desire HD for £499 and Desire Z for £449.

Orange launches £99 Android smartphone – ‘San Francisco’
Orange has announced a self-branded sub-£100 Android smartphone – ‘Orange San Francisco’. According to the telecom operator, it is the first in series of affordable Android phones, company is planning.
Orange San Francisco will be available across UK from this week for available for £99 on Orange pay as you go.
Alcatel releases its first Android phone ‘OT-980′ in UK
Alcatel has introduced its first Android phone – OT-980. Featuring a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and 2.8 inch touchscreen display, Alcatel OT-980 will ship with Android 2.1. Among other specifications, there is Wi-Fi, HSPA, E-Compass, Multi IM client an MP3 player and a 2MP camera.
The phone will be available in October 2010 from The Carphone Warehouse for £99.95 on prepay in UK.

Motorola Milestone 2 official; Coming Q4 in UK
Hours after the video promo of Motorola Milestone 2 was spotted on Youtube, Motorola went on to make the device official in UK.
The Motoblur sporting Android smartphone comes with 1 Ghz processor, Android 2.2 goodness, improved QWERTY keyboard, Adobe Flash 10.1. 8 GB of onboard memory, 5-megapixel camera and 3.7-inch WVGA screen.
The Motorola Milestone 2 enables you to connect devices by Wi-Fi by using Froyo goodness.

Philips Android GoGear Connect PMP spotted ‘selling online’
Android is going PMP way these days. After Samsung’s Galaxy PMP, Philips’ GoGear Connect is also spotted at UK’s online retailer Argos selling with Android 2.1 on-board, reported Engadget.
The product listing shows the 3.2-inch media player with 16GB of internal storage space, a battery good for 5 hours of video playback (and 25 hours of audio), FM radio tuner, a touchpanel and a microSD expansion slot. There is a 8 GB version also.
It is selling for £199.99 and £179.99 for 16 GB and 8 GB versions respectively but, both these Android PMPs are currently out of stock. We expect them to be in stock soon and an international launch.
Samsung Galaxy Tab making its way to Vodafone UK soon

We already know that Samsung is going to launch Galaxy Tab in September at IFA Berlin. But now, we are also hearing Vodafone will be the one getting the device in UK. According to Engadget, ‘Samsung Galaxy Tablet’ has recently surfaced within Vodafone UK’s systems (as shown above).
Huawei Ideos Android phone to be launched in UK soon
Another Huawei Android phone has leaked online. According to the latest information, Huawei Ideos, an Android 2.2 smartphne will soon make its way to UK.
Huawei Ideos is an entry level smartphone with specifications like, 2.8 inch QVGA touch-screen, 3.2 mega-pixel camera, microSD support, built-in A-GPS , WiFI support, 3G support and 512MB of onboard memory.
It is expected to retail for around £200 [unlocked] and would come in yellow, pink and black colours, reports 3G.co.uk.
Acer Stream coming to UK for £399 from Aug 9

Acer Stream has been officially announced for the UK and it will be available from August 9. Electronics retailer Expansys will be selling the Acer Stream in the UK without a contract for £399.
