Garmin Asus seems to have changed their mind about launching Android powered Nuvifone A10 in India. Last time I heard from them during their first phone launch in India, they said they will not launch the phone in India. But, Techtree is reporting that Garmin-Asus nuvifone A10 Android phone will be launched in India by September end.

Well, this is big for Indian consumers and Android enthusiasts. NDTV is claiming that Samsung will launch its much anticipated Android tablet – Galaxy Tab in India next month.
While, Indians are still waiting for Dell Streak release, which is also expected to come in October, Samsung could become the first big Android tablet manufacture to launch a tablet in India. Galaxy Tab is expected to priced somewhere in 35K to 40K range.
Akai to launch Android smartphones in India early next year
Japanese consumer electronics brand Akai which recently entered the Indian mobile phones scene, has announced that it will launch Android handsets in India early next year.
“We plan to launch 3G and Android handsets for Indian market around January and the Android handset will cost around Rs 10,000,” Pranay Dhabhai, managing director, Akai India, said.

HCL to manufacture $35 Indian Android tablet; first batch before 10 Jan
Everyone feared that the much anticipated $35 tablet project of Indian government might turn out to be a flop show but considering the latest update, tablet is very much on the right track and will make its debut in Jan 2011.
Indian government recently awarded the contract to manufacture the Android tablet to HCL Infosystems. The company will help govt manufacture 100,000 such tablets.

“We are not launching Nexus One in India. It would not have worked because at $500 it is on the expensive side for the Indian market,” said Vinay Goel, Head of Products for Google India.
We have realised that the handset device manufacturers like Samsung or HTC are better equipped to address the needs of the market. We are partnering them to enable cheaper smart phones based on our Android platform, he added.
Motorola to push Android 2.2 update for Indian and other Asia Pacific Milestone users in Q1, 2011

Giving a sigh of relief to Indian and several other Asia Pacific countries, Motorola today revised its Android 2.2 update schedule to include the window of Q1, 2011 for Milestone.
Last time, we reported the update was still in evaluation stage.
Now we finally have a timeframe and can expect to see Froyo running on our Motorola Milestone sometime early next year. That’s far but it’s better than not getting it ever.

HTC Desire India Edition: What to expect & What not
HTC Desire is reaching Indian shelves slowly, and it is time for us to look about what can we expect from this Android smartphone.
Hardware:
The modest dark grey plastic cover is an indication that HTC Desire is more about substance than style. A powerful 1 GHz Snapdragon Processor, a touch-sensitive track pad and clicky buttons differentiate it from Nexus One, its Google branded cousin.
What is also different is the HTC Desire lacks the noise cancellation feature as well as the voice recognition for texts and e-mails. However, considering that the latter was not very popular among users, it will hardly be missed in HTC Desire.
