HTC Haushan coming to China Mobile

HTC Haushan is likely to be released on China Mobile, reported 911Sniper.

The device has striking resemblance with HTV EVO. Rumours have it that Android 2.3 powered HTC Haushan will come with a TI Omap 3630 processor clocked at 800MHz. It’ll also sport 512MB RAM, 1GB of ROM, 5 MP camera with front VGA cam.

Sony Ericsson to partner Chinese game devs for Xperia Play

Sony Xperia Play is gearing up to take a giant leap towards China. In a recent interview to Dow Jones, Sony Ericsson chief informed that the company is mulling to partner with Chinese game developers to place country-specific games in the device.

Asus to launch mass market Android smartphones in China

Asustek Computer is gearing up to launch a smartphone line targeted at the masses in China.

Designed for entry- to mid-level segment of the market, the smartphones use an integrated chip provided by Marvell and run on 3G technology developed in China (commonly known as TD-SCDMA).

“I believe the Asus TD smartphones will be just the beginning of mass deployment of cost effective, advanced TD-SCDMA-based smartphones throughout China,” said Weili Dai, Marvell co-founder.

HTC to cooperate with telcos to penetrate Chinese market

Handset manufacturer HTC is seeking to expand its share in China by launching its products on China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom.

The company, which was absent in the Chinese market earlier than last year, relied on its sales arm Dopod. The latter was unable to increase the market share, and thus HTC had to take back the control.

Tencent to launch Android phone in China

If you thought Facebook was the only web service building an Android phone [although allegedly], you were wrong.  Tencent [QQ], which is the most popular free instant messaging computer program in China, is soon going to launch an Android smartphone, which will integrate its IM software and more in it. The smartphone is being manufactured by Huawei and will cost somewhere around $150.

China Telecom launches Motorola Droid X ‘ME811’

China Telecom and Motorola have launched Droid X “ME811” in Chinese market. It is an upgraded version of Verizon Droid X, which was available in US market.

Droid X ME811 comes with a 4.3 inch touch screen with 480*854 resolution, 1.2GHz processor, and Android 2.2. Phone will be available in the market starting January 17 for a price of 4888 yuan.

Meizu M9 launched in China for $379

Meizu’s much anticipated Android 2.2 smartphone M9 was launched in China on January 1. This smartphone comes with an iPhone 4 like Retina display.

Meizu M9 8 GB versions is priced at $379, while 16GB will go for $409. Huge lines were seen outside Meizu stores in China, where people lined up to buy M9, making its launch a much needed success.

Sharp Galapagos coming to US, India with 3G, EPUB support

Sharp today announced that it will start shipping its Galapagos e-readers in United States next year. Company is also planning to launch it in India, China and Brazil for faster global adoption.
Sharp will be tweaking Galapagos before launching it outside Japan. The tweaked version will have 3G, and EPUB format support. There is no word on pricing and exact availability, but Sharp Galapagos is expected to arrive in Q1 of 2011.

Samsung launches first “traditional flip” Android phone with two displays in China

We have seen a couple of flip Android phones from Motorola, but those were odd flips – either backflip or sideflip/flipout, and all came with QWERTY keyboard and a single display.

Samsung became the first Android phone manufacturer to launch a flip based Android phone that has traditional number pad and two displays. Yes that’s surely a first. Samsung W899 made its debut today in China and it will be available with China Telecom.
