LinkedIn releases updated Android app with new UI, richer story stream
Professional networking website LinkedIn today announced that it is rolling-out a new version of its official Android application in Google Play Store. The current update brings a re-designed app with richer story stream and more personalisation options to the users.
“Today, we’re excited to unveil a brand new mobile phone experience, completely revamped with the general professional and everyday use case in mind. We want to make it easier for our members to quickly discover and engage with the rich professional insights being shared across LinkedIn to help them make smarter decisions from wherever they may be working,” LinkedIn’s Tomer Cohen noted in a blog post.

Microsoft releases revamped Outlook.com Android app
Microsoft has released a re-designed version of its Outlook.com Android app in the Google Play. According to the company, the new update overhauls the entire user interface and provides a number of new features.
Some of the new features that are being introduced in the latest Outlook.com app include conversation threading, filters for unread and flagged mail, as well as the ability to mark messages as junk.

Amazon Appstore for Android coming to India and nearly 200 more countries
Amazon has announced today that it will soon expand the Appstore for Android to nearly 200 markets. These markets include India, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, and South Korea. The expansion will go live in the coming months, but application developers can immediately start submitting their apps for distribution in the new markets.
This is the first big expansion for the Android app store from Amazon, which is currently only available in US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Japan. Such broad distribution will put Amazon in competition to Google and Apple, which currently have the biggest app stores on the planet.

Facebook Home now available for international users, first update coming next month
Facebook VP of mobile engineering Corey Ondrejka has confirmed at the D: Dive Into Mobile conference that Facebook Home will go live for the international users in Google Play today. This Facebook-centric home-screen launcher was available only for United States Android users until today (Check update below).
Facebook Home right now works only on select Android phones like HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. So, if you have one of the four phones, you will be able to download Facebook Home from Google Play later today in your country. Folks with other smartphones will still have to make do with the patched APKs floating around or wait for the official support.

Android user verdict on Facebook Home: 43 pc think it is worth 1 star
It has been almost 24 hours since Facebook released Facebook Home in Google Play and the app has already been downloaded anywhere between 50,000 and 1,00,000 times. That is a decent figure to get an idea of how users are feeling about this much-hyped Android launcher from Facebook.
Well, the initial feedback is not very encouraging. As per the user reviews on Google Play, over 43 per cent of the reviewers have awarded the app just one star. 19 per cent of the users do think that the app is good and worth giving five stars, but such users are just one in five.

As you can expect, within minutes of the Facebook Home launch in Google Play, the extracted APK is available for download. This APK has become even more precious item as Facebook has released Facebook Home in the United States only today. Global availability might take days or even weeks.

Facebook Home now available in Google Play, US-only right now
As promised, Facebook has released Facebook Home in Google Play Store just now. Currently supported only on select devices, Facebook Home can be downloaded from here. As, it is rolling-out slowly, it might take some time to appear on your phone.
Update: Turns out Facebook Home is only available in United States at launch, as Facebook notes in the help documentation of Facebook Home. 
According to Facebook, Facebook Home is compatible with HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung GALAXY S III and Samsung GALAXY Note II, and more devices will be added in the upcoming weeks.

Facebook Messenger for Android updated with Chat Heads support
Just in time for the arrival of Facebook Home in Google Play, Facebook has updated the official Android app as well as Messenger app. There are not many changes in the Facebook app, as the company is just getting it ready for Facebook Home.

Linkedin buys Pulse, existing Pulse apps will live
The popular professional networking website LinkedIn has announced that it has acquired Pulse, the news reading app from India-born entrepreneurs Akshay Kothari and Ankit Gupta. The 90 per cent stock and 10 per cent cash deal worth approximately $90 million, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2013.
Following the completion of deal, Pulse team will join LinkedIn HQ at Mountain View, California. According to a press release issued by the company, the existing Pulse apps will continue to be supported, which is positive as not so often such deals are Acqui-hires and the existing products get dumped.
