Sony India launches Xperia SP for INR 27,490

Sony has announced the launch of Xperia SP mid-range Android phone in the Indian market. The phone will join company’s high-end Xperia Z and ZL phones that were released in the country last month. Company has priced Sony Xperia SP at INR 27,490, which is a decent price, but will have a lot of competition from phones like Galaxy S III and HTC One X as they have got price-cuts recently.Sony Xperia SP

In my view, more aggressive pricing would have been great, as company pursued with Xperia Z and Xperia ZL phones, both of which are currently selling for INR 37,990 and INR 35,990 respectively.

Karbonn TA-FONE A37 7-inch 3G tablet now available for INR 9,490

A new Karbonn Android tablet has landed in the Indian market. Dubbed as TA-FONE A37, the tablet runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is now available on Snapdeal.com and has got a price-tag of INR 9,490. We are still waiting for the official announcement, which should be coming in the next couple of days.Karbonn-TA-FONE-A37

Karbonn Smart Tab Ta-Fone A37 is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor. It comes with 7-inch capacitive display with WVGA resolution. On the imaging front, company has included 2MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera.

Panasonic to launch smartphones in India: Report

After a failed European debut, the ailing Japanese co aims at India

In a surprising move, Panasonic seems to be planning to launch smartphones in the Indian market. A report from BGR India indicates that the Japanese company has already tied with a major Indian distributor and is almost ready to launch smartphones in the country.Panasonic Eluga

If true, this might not be company’s first stint in the Indian mobile market, but it will be the first time company launched full-fledged smartphones in the country.

Alleged India launch & pricing details of Samsung Galaxy S 4 emerge

While, we still believe that Samsung Galaxy S 4 will be available in India in early-May, reports from IBN Live and The Mobile Indian are indicating towards an end-of-April availability. We find these reports hard to believe as they are contradicting each other on both pricing and availability dates.Samsung Galaxy S 4

First talking about IBN Live, which claims that the Galaxy S 4 will be launched in the country on April 25 and go on sale beginning April 27. The site further adds that the phone will get a maximum retail price (MRP) around INR 42,000, however the street price will be lower than 40,000.

Samsung giving 15pc cash back on select Galaxy series devices

Looks like Apple iPhone 4 deals and HTC One X price cut has forced Samsung to rethink its pricing of select Galaxy series devices in the country. Company today ran a full page advertisement in multiple newspapers (we spotted it on Times of India Delhi)  announcing that it is offering 15 per cent cash back on Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note 800, Galaxy Grand Duos and Galaxy Camera devices if bought under a 12 month EMI scheme.Samsung Galaxy Own Now Plan

Samsung India has been running this “Samsung Galaxy Own Now Plan” for quite some time, but the cash back scheme is something new that has been introduced today.  As a part of this, Samsung will be offering 15 per cent instant cash back on the Smart Buy price of any of the aforementioned devices if bought with a 12 month EMI plan using an ICICI Bank or Standard Chartered Bank credit cards.

Official Imgur Android app lands in Google Play, Australia only right now

Reddit’s favourite image hosting website Imgur is readying its official Android app. They have released a beta version of the app in Google Play, but it seems to be Australia-exclusive right now. Looks like, we will have to wait for a few days to get our hands on the app.Imgur Android app

Google launches Play Music in seven more countries

Continuing the expansion of Google Play Music service, Google has announced the launch in seven more countries including Australia and New Zealand. Other countries where Google Play Music has went live include Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxemburg and Portugal.Google Play Music

In addition to buying digital music from Google Play Store, users in these seven countries will also have access to Google’s cloud Music locker service, which lets them store their personal music as well as music purchases from Google Play.

Micromax Funbook Talk P360 available online for INR 7,049

Micromax has released yet another Android tablet in the Indian market. The tablet, which is known as Funbook Talk P360, will be joining the company’s growing Funbook series of devices. The Funbook Talk P360 will be succeeding company’s previously launched Funbook Talk P350 tablet and not much has changed here. Micromax has just added 512MB of more RAM, rear camera and little more battery power. When, we are seeing full HD displays becoming the standard in smartphones and people don’t like even to see WVGA displays in budget phones, company is loading them in 7-inch tablets.  Looks like, even asking for Android 4.1 is too much for Micromax.

Google announces Google Play redesign, rolling-out now

After a slew of leaks, Google has officially unveiled the redesigned Google Play Store for Android users. Company today noted in a blog post that the redesigned Play Store is slowly being rolled-out to all Android phones and tablets that are powered by Android 2.0 or above.Google Play Home Redesign

The company expects the roll-out to complete in the next few weeks for all global users.
