HTC Desire, Legend and Wildfire to get Android 2.2 in Q3
Nexus One owners got what they wanted – The Android 2.2 update. Now its the turn of HTC Desire, Wildfire and Legend to get the Froyo sweetness. An HTC Rep told Recombu that they are working on HTC Sense to make it compatible. Here is what they said:
“We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3.”
So, Q3 that’s your answer.
Samsung Intercept images leaked
First official looking images of Samsung Intercept aka SPH-M910 have leaked online. According to the information till now, Intercept will come with Android 2.1 and a 3.2-inch touch display and it is expected to launch on July 11 on Sprint.

Indian firm Lemon to launch dual-sim Android handset
The Indian mobile manufacturer Lemon will soon be launching India’s first dual-sim Android handset named ‘P1′. Similar to their other phones, this is also going to be an entry level phone with price hovering somewhere around 8,000 INR.
P1 will be sporting a 400MHz processor and Android 1.6. No other details are currently available, but expect the launch soon.
Lemon is also set to launch an application store in 4-6 months. The store will offer a mix of free and paid applications.
Ophone 2.0 to debut this week
Android’s China version or OPhone will be launching its 2.0 version this week on Samsung Oscar I7680. Version 2.0 features a comprehensive range of functionality upgrades, including more than 1,000 improvements in user interface and experience, 300 upgrades, and over ten new functionalities including: customization, preview, and third-party download of themes; multi-touch functionality; cut, copy and paste; a game engine coupled with an accelerated 3D-capable GPU.
China Mobile launched the OPhone platform in September 2009, with the first handsets hitting the market at the end of last year.
RCom to launch Samsung Galaxy I899 as their first Android smartphone
Remember we reported about how RCom was planning to launch Android phones in India. It seems we got to know about their first Android handset and it would be from Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy I899 is currently on a pre-order status on RCom website. Talking about the specs, it comes with a 800MHz processor, a 3.2-inch AMOLED HVGA (320×480) resistive touchscreen display with anti-scratch coating, Android OS, 3.2MP auto focus camera with LED flash, GPS, various sensors, Bluetooth, 512MB internal memory and microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB. I899 also supports out-of-the-box DivX/Xvid formats, USB 2.0 and has a 1440mAh battery.
We expect it to be priced aggressively, some where around 12,000-15,000 bracket.

This is straight from Google. Finally, Nexus One owner do not need to download the floating leaked updates. In the coming week, all the Nexus One owner will receive the official OTA Android 2.2 update.
Kindle for Android available now in Android Market
Starting today Amazon’s Kindle app went live on Android Market. You can download the app to read books from large inventory of e-books available on Amazon.

Bell to launch Galaxy S Vibrant in Canada

Bell in Canada will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S handset. It just put out the teaser page on its website. Galaxy S will be named as Galaxy S Vibrant. The specifications are expected to be 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera that can record 720p HD videos, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS.

HTC Finally release the Android 2.1 update for sim-free and unlocked HTC Hero handsets in Europe. Reporting were coming from several countries like UK, the Netherlands, Sweden and Serbia that the OTA update was being carried out.
