Update: Videocon has officially announced the tablet VT10 today and it carries a lower price-tag than what we saw at a few online retailers earlier (read below). The tablet is now available in the country for INR 10,999.
“The tablet space of the country is going through a revolution at the moment, where the tablet technology is pushing the boundaries of engaged tablet experience. In view of the expanding horizon of the tablet space, we have introduced Videocon VT10 Tablet which is aimed towards the emerging consumers of the country who seek to engage in an immersive tablet experience. For the discerning consumer, the Videocon VT10 Tablet brings best in the industry features like a 10.1- inch IPS Screen, 1.5Ghz Dual Core Processor, 6800 mAh battery and much more to provide a truer and larger-than-life tablet experience. With the Videocon VT10 Tablet, we seek to augment our reach across innovative technology at affordable prices,” said Khalid Zamir, Head Product Planning & Development, Videocon Mobile Phones.
Earlier: As the company promised during the smartphone launch, Videocon’s first Android tablet has landed in the Indian market. Available now at two online retailers Snapdeal and Homeshop18, the tablet comes with a 10.1-inch display and carries VT10 moniker. Company has priced it at INR 11,200.
Videocon VT10 has quite some firsts for a budget tablet. It sports a decent 1280x800p resolution display, which is normally not the case with other cheap tablets. It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, unlike Mediatek or Rockchip processor in its counterparts.
Other specs of the tablet include Android 4.1, 1GB RAM, 2MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, and 6800 mAh battery. On the connectivity front, there is Wi-Fi and 3G dongle support.
Videocon, which was absent from both smartphone and tablet market for the last two years and has made a decent re-entry with good and value-for-money smartphones and a nice tablet. We hope company continues the same in the next year.
